Closing Ceremony of Second Evening School on "Legal Research and Human Rights Protection Mechanisms"

On December 15, the Human Rights Research Center (HRRC) concluded the second round of the Evening School on Legal Research and Human Rights Protection Mechanisms. This time, it was implemented in cooperation with the European University of Armenia (EUA) and supported by the European Endowment for Democracy (EED).

At the closing ceremony, Anahit Simonyan, Director of the Human Rights Research Center, and Isabella Iskandaryan, Chair of Law at the European University of Armenia, presented graduation certificates to around 20 participants.

Anahit Simonyan and Isabella Iskandaryan congratulated the students on successfully completing the Evening School, highlighting the knowledge and connections they gained during the program.

Anahit Simonyan particularly emphasized the importance of continuity of the Evening School. In this context, she thanked the European University of Armenia for successfull cooperation.

"This was our second Evening School. Promoting human rights education in academic environments is a priority direction of the work of our organization. I hope that your familiarization with international norms of human rights protection, research tools and methods in this field will contribute to your professional progress,"- she said.

Anahit Simonyan also thanked all the expert-lecturers involved in the Evening School, who, over the course of several weeks, shared their exceptional experience and knowledge with the participants, thereby ensuring the School's high level of expertise.

Isabella Iskandaryan, Chair of Law at the European University of Armenia, in her turn thanked the team of Human Rights Research Center for meaningful collaboration and emphasized the importance of enlargement of ties and networks in the scope of the second round of the Evening School.

"Evening school has been a good platform for you to make new professional connections. I want you not to lose touch with each other. Continue the contacts that were formed during the school and stay in touch with leading expert you had a chance to meet in the scope of the School,"- she said.

Hayk Smbatyan, the Deputy Director for Research at Caucasus Research Resource Center-Armenia and a lecturer at the Evening School, was also present at the closing ceremony. He congratulated the participants and spoke about the importance and effectiveness of such initiatives.

At the end of the event, the participants discussed the knowledge they had gained during the three weeks of the Evening School and shared their ideas for conducting research in the field of human rights.

To us it was particularly valuable to note that many of the School's graduates expressed their desire to continue their professional activities in the field of human rights protection as a result of their participation at the Evening School.

Students from several academic institutions in Armenia, as well as early career professional from 7 fields, including law, history, economics, social work, participated in the second round of the Evening School on Legal Research and Human Rights Protection Mechanisms.

The Evening School is an ongoing initiative of the Human Rights Research Center, implemented in collaboration with its academic partners.

HRRC's "Evening School" initiative aims to raise awareness among students and young professionals about international human rights norms and to develop the skills necessary for conducting research in the field of human rights.
